NY State General Business Law § 399-ccc Smoke Detecting Devices
On March 7th NYS Department of State, Division of Building Standards and Codes, reported that “the Law titled “Smoke Detecting Devices,” which becomes effective on April 1, 2019, pertains to battery-operated smoke detecting alarm devices. The text of The Law is provided here….The Law states in part “It shall be unlawful for any person or entity to distribute, sell, offer for sale, or import any solely battery operated smoke detecting alarm device powered by a replaceable, removable battery. All solely battery operated smoke detecting alarm devices that are distributed, sold, offered for sale, or imported, shall employ a non-removable, non-replaceable battery that powers the device for a minimum of ten years”.

OSHA Drops Requirement to Electronically Submit OSHA Forms 300 and 301
On March 8th The American Society of Safety Professionals reported that “OSHA has issued a final rule that eliminates the requirement for establishments with 250 or more employees to electronically submit information from OSHA Form 300 and Form 301 each year. These establishments must still maintain those records on-site and must continue to submit information from their Form 300A”.
