Countdown to PE Day!

It is with tremendous pride that the staff of Yarmus Engineering, P.C. joins the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in inviting you to celebrate the first-ever Professional Engineers Day on Wednesday, August 3rd. NSPE has launched this initiative in order to raise awareness about what it means to be a P.E. and to promote the work that we do each and every day. The date for the event was chosen as a nod to the first professional engineer license issued in the US, given to Wyoming engineer Charles Bellamy in August 1907. Since that time, licensure has expanded and professional engineers across the US have made the commitment to protect the public health, safety, and welfare.Firm president, Andrew R. Yarmus, P.E., is an active member on the Executive Boards of NSPE’s Professional Engineers in Construction Practice Division, NYS Society of Professional Engineers, and the Rockland County Chapter of NYSSPE, in addition to holding the position of President-Elect for the Lower Hudson Valley Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Please contact our office if you are interested in joining, interacting with, or otherwise learning more about these organizations or Professional Engineering in general.

OSHA penalties to be adjusted for inflation after August 1st

On July 1st the US Department of Labor Occupational Safety & Health Administration reported that “maximum penalties for OSHA violations are set to increase for the first time since 1990 as part of overall federal penalty adjustments mandated by Congress last year”. Any citations issued by OSHA after Aug. 1 will be subject to the new penalties if the related violations occurred after November 2, 2015.

Yarmus Engineering, P.C. makes it a priority to remain aware and knowledgeable of such developments regarding worker safety regulations, and we endeavor to keep our clientele informed of any legislation which might affect their projects we are consulting with them on. Please contact our office if we can be of assistance to you or your clients regarding such matters.
