Firm President, Andrew R. Yarmus, P.E., F.NSPE, will be representing the Professional Engineers of NYS as the NYS Society of Professional Engineers Immediate Past President, as well as all Professional Engineers as the NSPE Board Director, Membership-At-Large, at the National Society of PE’s Professional Engineering Conference (NSPEcon) being held this week in Kansas City, MO. He will be officially reinstalled in his position on the Board, participate in his first Executive Committee meeting, and participate in his first Board meeting of the new term during the conference. Please join us in wishing him congratulations on these roles!

    • Forensic engineering consultation regarding a potential slip/trip and fall claim alleged to have occurred on a staircase in a residential home located in Westchester County, NY

    • Forensic engineering consultation regarding a Labor Law claim involving a worker that fell from a ladder on a worksite in New York, NY

    • Forensic engineering consultation regarding an accident that occurred in the parking lot of an American multinational retail store located in Orange County, NY

Adjacent Property – Improvements to the process to facilitate timely and fair resolution of adjacent property disputes when a property owner needs a license to enter upon a neighboring property to facilitate repair or construction

On July 23rd the New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE) reported in its 2025 Legislative Mid-Year Review that “NYSSPE had joined the Real Estate Board of New York, and other interested parties, to advance this legislation which is designed to improve the resolution of cases when access to adjacent parcels is needed to facilitate repairs or improvements to a parcel of property and the adjacent property owner is unwilling to cooperate.  We will now be lobbying Governor Hochul to sign this bill when it reaches her desk”. The legislation has already passed both houses and is awaiting delivery to the Governor.

Yarmus, P.E., F.NSPE, as Immediate Past President of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers, has been monitoring this legislation, and has been working with the lobbyist for the society to ensure the success of the efforts of the organization.  Yarmus Engineering, P.C. is available to consult with property owners, property managers, contractors, inspectors, real estate developers, builders, attorneys, and other related parties regarding the inspection, repair, maintenance, and construction of their buildings, as well as to consult on such access issues as they may arise. Key Bridge demolition begins next week

On July 1st ASCE’s SmartBrief for Civil Engineers reported that “the Francis Scott Key Bridge will be demolished over several months, beginning on about July 7, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. The initial focus is on removing the bridge deck by the river, with subsequent phases targeting other sections”.

Yarmus, P.E., F.NSPE will be attending a Keynote Session at the upcoming NSPE annual conference which will be discussing Government and Private Industries’ response to the Maryland Key Bridge collapse, given by key personnel from the contracting and government agencies that helped lead the response efforts.
