What’s New
Our NYC clients should be aware that owners of buildings equipped with a fire alarm system, and that contain Group A-1, A-2, A-3, Group B, or Group M occupancies, now have an extra 6 months to install carbon monoxide detectors as required by Local Law 191. These property owners now have until July 1, 2021 to complete the installations. Read more about this extension here.

OSHA Updates Site-Specific Inspection Program
On December 16th The American Society of Safety Professionals reported that “OSHA is updating its site-specific targeting (sst) directive, which directs agency resources to establishments with the highest rates of injuries and illness. The SST directive is the agency’s primary targeting program for non-construction establishments with 20 or more employees. Under the program, OSHA selects establishments for inspection based on injury and illness data employers submitted on Form 300A for calendar years 2017-19…The new directive replaces Site-Specific Targeting 2016…”.

On December 17th The American Society of Safety Professionals reported that “Slips, trips and falls accounted for 880 workplace fatalities in 2019.
