Is your child breathing radon gas at school?

On February 29th, Jeff Rossen reported on The Today Show that “when we send our children to school, we assume that they’re safe; that they’re learning in a healthy environment. But health officials say there’s a danger in the air: a toxic cancer causing gas in thousands of classrooms nationwide. And, we found, many districts are doing nothing about it”.  Yarmus Engineering, P.C. was pleased to learn that The Today Show worked with the very same testing laboratory that we utilize for radon sample analysis.

Yarmus Engineering, P.C. is available to provide site consulting services regarding radon infiltration, including radon testing and available remediation options. Such services can be provided as part of a pre-purchase real estate inspection or as a stand-alone service. Please contact our office if we can be of assistance to you or your clients.

Subway Blasts Rattling Historic Upper East Side Homes, Owners Say

On February 20th NY1 reported that “some residents on Manhattan’s Upper East Side are complaining that vibrations from the blasting for the Second Avenue subway line are damaging their century-old landmarked homes…The MTA says the blasting is below allowable levels set by the Department of Buildings and it will be giving the vibration data to the residents who own the buildings where the agency placed the monitors”.

Yarmus Engineering, P.C. is available to provide inspection and consulting services related to blasting operations.  We have provided Forensic Engineering services for both pre and post-blasting activities in order to assist legal counsel, insurance companies, and similar parties in determining the effects of blasting activities (or lack thereof) on adjacent properties and buildings.  In fact, we have been contacted by parties involved with or claiming to have been affected by the subject Second Avenue Subway project.  Please contact our office if we can be of assistance to you or your clients.
