For nearly 70 years, Engineers Week has provided an avenue for engineers to educate, celebrate, and spread the word about the profession and its role in society. This year’s EWeek celebrationFebruary 16–22, focuses on the theme of engineers as “Pioneers of Progress”.

  • Forensic engineering evaluation of an injury-causing incident involving improper storage of materials pursuant to Labor Law and Industrial Code Rule 23 regulations at a Manhattan hotel construction site
  • Building code compliance inspection for an exterior metal means of egress stairway at an automobile dealership located in Rockland County, NY
  • Structural engineering design consultation regarding the renovation of a residential apartment in Manhattan

Rules amending and updating the NYS Uniform and Energy Codes effective May 12, 2020

On January 31st the New York State Department of State Codes Division reported that “the State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council (the “Code Council”) adopted rules that amend and update the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code (the “Uniform Code”) and the State Energy Conservation Construction Code (the “Energy Code”)…The rules will become effective on May 12, 2020”.

Yarmus Engineering, P.C. makes it a priority to remain aware and knowledgeable of ongoing building code updates and similar regulatory changes so that we can incorporate same into our designs and inform our clientele of such new regulations which might affect their properties. Firm President, Andrew R. Ice Dam Prevention and Removal

On January 27th AAA Northeast reported that “while seeing your home decorated with long, sparkling icicles hanging down from the roof might look pretty enough to paint, ice dams can cause damage to the interior and exterior of your house. The key to ice dam prevention is staying on top of regular home maintenance before and during the winter”.
