Construction Accidents in NYC Down for First Time in Nearly a Decade
On December 2nd The New York City Department of Buildings reported “in case you missed it: DOB’s Construction Safety Compliance Unit, and the game-changing unannounced, proactive inspections they perform, were recently highlighted in the New York Times. And their hard work is paying off: although the building boom continues, construction accidents are down in 2019, by 26%, for the first time in nearly a decade”.

It’s time to do something about NYC’s dangerous, crumbling building facades
On December 27th The New York Post reported that “New Yorkers have enough to worry about without having to fear deadly chunks of building facades raining down on them from above. Yet, a Post review this week found that, alas, that’s a legitimate concern…After architect Erica Tishman was fatally struck by debris from a faulty facade this month, a Post review of city records found thousands of other buildings with outstanding citations for unsafe exteriors — some more than a decade old, and some with no protective sheds”.
Yarmus Engineering, P.C. is available to design, inspect, certify, and consult with clientele regarding masonry facade conditions at buildings, and to consult with attorneys, insurance companies, property managers, and other property related professionals regarding such matters.
