Yarmus Engineering, P.C. is part of a project team which was interviewed as one of the finalists for a bid to assist New York State’s Empire State Development Corporation with the Columbia University expansion project in the Manhattanville neighborhood of New York City.

Building Safety Month Concludes
with Backyard Safety

Last week, “Backyard Safety Week focused on educating consumers with an emphasis on swimming pool and spa safety. The good news is that after extensive collaboration with a wide range of industry experts, including the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals, the International Code Council’s 2012 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code enhances consumer safety”.  Click here for additional information on this topic as reported in our February 2009 newsletter.

East Side Access Project To Cost More And Take Longer To Complete, New Estimate Says

On May 22nd The New York Times reported that “creating a Long Island Rail Road link to the East Side of Manhattan will take six years longer to accomplish than originally expected and will cost nearly $2 billion more than the initial estimate, Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials said Monday.” The updated project estimate means the link will not be completed until “August 2019, and officials put the cost at $8.24 billion, up from an estimate of $6.3 billion in 2006.” The US Department of Transportation Inspector General announced last week that he will launch an investigation into the Federal Transit Authority’s oversight of the East Side Access project”.
