Four Elements of a Successful OSHA Consultation

On October 24th the American Society of Safety Professionals reported that an “OSHA consultation can help an organization improve its safety and health performance. These services are available to businesses in all industries and are designed to help small and mid-sized employers identify hazards and establish site-specific safety and health programs to help reduce injuries and illnesses”.

Andrew R. Yarmus, P.E., F.NSPE, as a Past Chair of the National Society of Professional Engineers PE’s in Construction Interest Group, has facilitated discussions between Professional Engineers across the country on important matters such as safety in the construction industry.  Yarmus Engineering, P.C. is available to inspect work places, construction sites, properties, and other locations for conditions which might present a safety risk or otherwise be prone to causing an accident; design modifications to help minimize the likelihood of such conditions; and to consult with our clients, including building and unit owners, property managers, employers, real estate developers, builders, attorneys, contractors, insurance professionals, adjusters, building superintendents, and other related parties when such accidents do occur or are alleged.  Please contact our office if we can be of assistance to you or your clients regarding such matters.

A Fresh Look At An Old New Law: The Americans With Disabilities Act

On October 7th Forbes reported that “the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act is less than a year away…If the ADA was a person, it would be a full adult, no longer a newborn. Yet, businesses and employers still often talk as if they’ve just heard about it, and beg for more time and grace periods to comply. The Americans with Disabilities Act may be the oldest “new law” in American legal history. In one sense it’s ridiculous to treat a nearly 30 year old law as something businesses still need to adjust to. On the other hand, if the law is still “new” to so many people, maybe there’s fresh chance to get full implementation right. The coming anniversary is a good time to start this process by asking some probing questions”.

Yarmus Engineering, P.C. is available to design, inspect, certify, and consult with clientele regarding ADA accessibility within and to their buildings and premises, and to consult with attorneys, insurance companies, property managers, and other property related professionals regarding such matters. Firm President, Andrew R. Yarmus, P.E., F.NSPE, maintains his certification as a NYS Code Enforcement Official to ensure that we remain knowledgeable about the latest requirements, regulations, and standards regarding same. Please contact our office if we can be of assistance to you or your clients regarding such matters.
